Grids
UzAssystem helps Uzbekistan in optimising the country grid infrastructures to adapt and be conform to the requirements of the new energy mix.
Context & Challenges
The energy transition and the development of decarbonised energy production induce an evolution in the electricity production with a direct effect on the construction and exploitation of electrical networks.
In the years ahead, this trend will continue to play a central role in the management of local power systems. The need to decarbonise power generation methods as well as meeting production demands, is transforming the actual energy mix and is directly influencing the networks.
The growing demand for electricity requires adapting the networks
Decarbonized energy has to be integrated into the grids
The regulatory constraints of each country in terms of networks is essential to consider
The increase in electricity consumption due to population growth and the industrialisation of countries requires modernisation and adaptation of the existing networks that transport this electricity from production plants to delivery points. Modernisation, continuity of service and increased resistance to consumption peaks are the main challenges for future electricity networks.
The further development of nuclear power and the use of renewables are at the heart of a low-carbon energy mix, but their integration needs to be coordinated so that interconnections can be achieved without destabilising electricity systems (the intermittency of renewables and the location of new power plants must be taken into account).
Regulations concerning the electricity network are not the same on the different continents and are sometimes even very different between neighbouring countries. Compliance with local norms and standards when developing or upgrading the electricity network is also a major concern for electricity companies.
