Site investigation: topographical, hydrological & geotechnical surveys for the Bash and Dzhankeldy wind power plants
Context
The client is a middle eastern major player in power generation. He had signed an implementation agreement in Uzbekistan to develop, finance, construct, operate and maintain wind power plants in Bukhara and Navoi regions.
In this scope, the client identified 2 sites, Bash and Dzhankeldy, and would like to conduct geotechnical, topographical and lhydrological surveys to prepare the preliminary geotechnical report for the civil works basic design and for the tender construction phase.
The Bash site is located in the region of Bukhara, at proximity of the Lake Ayakaghytma and Kokcha city. The Dzhankeldy site is located in the region of Bukhara, at proximity of Dzhankeldy and Kalaata cities.
The client appointed Uzassystem JV to perform the site surveys for the Bash and Dzhankeldy wind power plants.
Mission
Geotechnical & Geological Investigations
Geological mapping, rotary cored boreholes, in-situ tests such as: SPT, pressuremeter and double ring infiltration tests, soil and rock mechanics laboratory test, soil and rock sampling
Geophysical Survey
MASW, seismic refraction, ERT and determination of thermal conductivity and soil temperature, vertical electrical sounding, reporting
Topographical Survey
Topographic and geodetic along with aerial photography works were performed by using an UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) in accordance with client request
Hydrology Survey
Site description and investigation of the Project area features
Analysis and evaluation of hydro-meteorological data (rainfall/temperature/wind/humidity)
Evaluation of regional / local hydrologic data
Estimation of hydraulic properties of drainage area and flow networks
Evaluation of water chemistry, discharges and performing hydrologic model
Suggestions of protection for wadi flood / stormwater sustainable drainage systems
Field and laboratory work performed in accordance with technical specifications, according to ASTM standards.
