Engineering studies for 220 MW Jizzakh and Samarkand solar power plants
Project presentation
The Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan (GoU) is implementing a large-scale renewable energy strategy to deploy in the next 10 years up to 7GW of PV solar plant capacities. In this regard, IFC Transaction Advisory has assisted the Government of Uzbekistan for the development of 440MW solar PV capacity in Samarkand region and Jizzakh region. UAE-based one of the renewables energies leader had been selected as the winning bidder to develop 220MW Jizzakh PV independent power producer project and the 220MW Samarkand PV IPP project. The total amount of investment – up to $ 300 million. These projects are part of a wider scheme between the Government of Uzbekistan and the IFC to develop up to 900 MW of solar energy through public-private partnerships. Upon implementation of these projects, they will contribute to the reduction of annual greenhouse gas emissions by about 16500,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent, and generate an additional 1,100 millions kWh of electricity.
The client, was appointed as an EPC Contractor for Jizzakh and Samarkand Power Plants. Upon request of the client JV Uzassytem is providing local engineering services for these two solar power plants.
